It's difficult for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

We're talking about the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the peak baggers, are what's still available for a team that has won it all.

That it took until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It's difficult for their batsmen to maintain a record if not provided the possibility.

In the end, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to produce her most recent brilliance.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

Whether this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was considerably tougher to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this knock was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it's been a frustrating experience because it seemed my form was missing whatsoever," commented Healy.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and after that the right-hander was underway.

"The possibility to go out there and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

When she was removed her side needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the confidence to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, should it happen, we believe we can achieve it."

That comment will be the final thing rival teams at this tournament want to hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this victory following success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing through the pain.
